Daily Contribution in Fife
A specialist transport service is expanding into central Fife this month with a new 17 seater Iveco Daily minibus.
Local community transport group MoBUS used a grant from Futurebuilders Scotland to purchase the wheelchair accessible minibus from Allied Vehicles to transport people with disabilities and the elderly in rural areas.
MoBUS service 7900 passenger trips annually; transporting 65,500 passengers over more than 1.25 million passenger miles. The new funding and vehicle will expand the service into the Howe of Fife area, which currently has no community transport.
MoBUS general manager, Mary Parry, said: 'The new vehicle will allow more people access leisure, social and educational opportunities.
'Our Iveco Daily has easily removable seats so that we can transport wheelchair users, who particularly rely on us.'
The Futurebuilders Scotland funding is provided by the Scottish Executive through Communities Scotland.
Mary Parry added: 'We're delighted to be able to provide community transport to various groups within the Howe of Fife as well as opening up employment, training and volunteer opportunities within the community.'
The flat floor Iveco Daily minibus is accessible for up to six wheelchair passengers and features a plug door, reversing bleeper, electric side step, Ratcliff Palfinger rear passenger lift and Unwin Innotrax flooring for maximum safety and flexibility.
