Zone-2-Zone, a patient transport service based in Purley, Surrey, have been busy transporting patients in their new fleet of Fiat Freedoms - specially adapted wheelchair accessible cars from Allied Vehicles.

Working with University College London Hospital Trust the team at Zone-2-Zone have been transporting patients around England for over 2 years. Frequent users of the vehicle include wheelchair patients needing to attend hospital appointments far from home and more local ambulance work. The Zone-2-Zone crew consists of fully trained drivers who are all first aiders and have completed courses in ambulance training and health care assistance training.

Zone-2-Zone's director Amirthalingam Kumaranlingam (Kumar) said: "The Fiat Freedom is ideal for our wheelchair patients thanks to its adaptability. It appears compact but is actually really spacious. The ramp and wheelchair restraint system are both very easy to use."

Kumar continues: "The Freedoms are really economical for long journeys. Our passengers have been delighted with the service we provide."

Allied Vehicles supplies a range of vehicles suitable for patient transport services, care organisations and private households which require wheelchair accessible cars, MPVs and minibuses.

Kumar first heard about Allied Vehicles from a magazine advert.  He comments: "Don Miles, our Mobility Advisor, came to see me as soon as I asked him. He demonstrated the Freedom well and was very helpful.

"The high roof is great. The Freedom is a lot better than other vehicles that we looked at and is great value for money."
